BPC-157, or Body Protection Compound-157, is a synthetic pentadecapeptide, a chain of 15 amino acids, derived from a naturally occurring protein found in gastric juice.
It was first identified and studied by researchers at the University of Zagreb, and has since become one of the more extensively published research peptides in the preclinical literature.
Most published BPC-157 work has been carried out in rodent models, examining gastrointestinal tissue at a cellular level, tendon and ligament tissue in animal injury models, angiogenesis, nitric oxide system modulation and neurological signalling pathways.
