MOTS-c is a mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded within the 12S rRNA gene of mitochondrial DNA. It occupies a unique
position in research as one of the few peptides of mitochondrial rather than nuclear origin, enabling cross-compartmental
signalling that distinguishes it from most other research compounds Supplied for in vitro laboratory and scientific research use only, not for human or veterinary use.
Also available in research sets: Mitochondrial Pair (SS-31 + MOTS-c), Complete Mitochondrial (SS-31, NAD+, Epithalon + MOTS-c), The Verified Three (Retatrutide, KLOW + MOTS-c). See all research sets.
PLUK Verification Guarantee
Every vial ships with a batch-specific certificate of analysis from Janoshik, a third party laboratory, verifiable by task number. If any product fails to match its published certificate, we refund or replace it. That is the whole condition: the certificate, nothing else.
Your statutory rights are unaffected. How to verify a certificate and how the guarantee works.
The mitochondrial genome encodes MOTS-c, a mitochondrial-derived peptide. PerformanceLabsUK supplies it strictly as a research reference material for in vitro laboratory investigation. Researchers must not use MOTS-c for human or veterinary purposes.
Primary Research Areas: Metabolic Health | Insulin Sensitivity | Longevity | Exercise Physiology | Mitochondrial Biology
PerformanceLabsUK has every MOTS-c batch tested by a third-party laboratory. A batch-specific Certificate of Analysis is available on request and will be published in our COA Library. Researchers investigating related longevity and mitochondrial compounds may also wish to review our SS-31 research peptide. For structural and chemical reference data, see the independent PubChem listing.

Both compounds are studied in mitochondrial research but work in different ways. MOTS-c is encoded within mitochondrial DNA (the 12S rRNA region) and is studied as a signalling peptide. SS-31 is a synthetic tetrapeptide studied for its binding to cardiolipin on the inner mitochondrial membrane. Researchers comparing both can use the Mitochondrial Pair set, and the full range is in our mitochondrial research peptides category. For background, read MOTS-c and the Mitochondrial-Derived Peptides.
Store lyophilised MOTS-c at -20°C for long-term storage, or at 2–8°C for short-term storage, away from light and moisture. In the laboratory it is typically reconstituted with bacteriostatic water; our peptide reconstitution calculator works out the volume needed for a target concentration. Once reconstituted, keep refrigerated at 2–8°C and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Batch documentation is available on request, and published certificates of analysis are listed in our COA Library.
PerformanceLabsUK supplies MOTS-c in the UK as a research reference material, dispatched by Royal Mail next-day. It is sold for in vitro laboratory research only and is not for human or veterinary use.
MOTS-c is a 16-amino acid peptide encoded by mitochondrial DNA, first described in 2015. It is one of a small group of mitochondrial-derived peptides studied in cellular energy and metabolic signalling research.
Keep the lyophilised powder frozen at -20°C for long-term storage. After reconstitution, store at 2–8°C and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
